It is probable that cambridge will review the modern language requirement in the light of the new 14-19 education proposals for England in the coming year anyway.
There are some other universities that look for GCSE modern language as an entry requirement also - your decision to take it would keep all your options open.
OxblogsterMike Nicholsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04938814910134597389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7533088422235002789.post-63486326532177766892007-04-24T16:14:00.000+00:002007-04-24T16:14:00.000+00:00thank you very much for the help.. i think i'll ju...thank you very much for the help.. i think i'll just take a language GCSE and be done with it, cant hurt to be sure can it?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7533088422235002789.post-9039776290514054952007-03-16T18:35:00.000+00:002007-03-16T18:35:00.000+00:00to frogz r us. Check the admissions criteria on the Oxford web site or you should ask your sixth form teachers to get you a copy of the prospectus. Entry requirments do change and many state schools do not have languages as compulsory subjects at GCSE. I did encourage my children to study a langauge for GCSE.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7533088422235002789.post-86788582118123782352007-03-01T17:44:00.000+00:002007-03-01T17:44:00.000+00:00Hello. I've been told by several people that I should expect to be going to either Oxford or Cambridge but I'm not taking a language for GCSE. Do I absolutly NEED a C grade language GCSE to get into either Oxford or Cambridge or can I get in without one and if I don't have a language GCSE does that mean I have to get A's and A*'s in everything else to receive a place at Oxbridge?Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16071467986258514417noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7533088422235002789.post-65932624447175772312006-12-09T15:53:00.000+00:002006-12-09T15:53:00.000+00:00Oh yes, the foreign language GCSE. My school had awful trouble retaining language teachers, and like you, I was too intimidated to talk about my ambitios.

So for eight months in the lower sixth, my Tuesday evenings were spent taking French at an FE college -- it was during one of those classes, just over sixteen years ago, that the news came through of Thatcher's 'I fight on; I fight to win'.

Unlike Thatcher, I somehow managed to get the grade I needed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
